Description
This front shock absorber is suitable for selected Mercedes A-Class W169 and B-Class W245 vehicles. It controls the movement of the coil spring by absorbing the energy created as the suspension compresses and rebounds.
A worn front shock may cause excessive bouncing, reduced stability, knocking over uneven roads or increased body movement when braking and cornering. Uneven tyre wear, a longer stopping distance and visible fluid around the shock body can also indicate deterioration. Because shock absorbers wear gradually, the decline in handling may not be immediately noticeable.
The mounting components, bump stops, protective boots and coil springs should be inspected during installation. Front shock absorbers should generally be replaced in axle pairs to maintain balanced damping and predictable handling on both sides of the vehicle.
